Dr. William H. Stalker, DDS, MS

DDS, MS
Dr. William H. Stalker, DDS, MS, is a highly accomplished periodontist with a distinguished career spanning military service and private practice. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1944, Dr. Stalker graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1966. Following his service in Vietnam, he pursued his passion for dentistry, enrolling at the University of Indiana School of Dentistry in 1970. Graduating third in his class in 1974, he went on to complete a general practice residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio in 1975.  Dr. Stalker furthered his expertise in periodontics by completing a residency at the U.S. Army Institute of Dental Research at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He also earned a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology from George Washington University during this time. His military career included numerous assignments as a periodontist, culminating in his retirement as a colonel in 1986.  In 1987, Dr. Stalker transitioned to private practice, taking over Dr. Claude Naber’s periodontal practice. Over the next 23 years, he built a reputation for excellence in periodontal care. A Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology since 1983, Dr. Stalker was honored with induction into the American College of Dentists in 2003, recognizing his contributions to the profession.  Dr. Stalker’s academic achievements include publishing several articles in professional journals and co-authoring a textbook in 1990, further solidifying his impact on the field of periodontics.  Outside of his professional life, Dr. Stalker enjoys spending quality time with his wife and family. His hobbies include scuba diving and photography, pursuits that reflect his adventurous and creative spirit.

Dr. Steven C. Maller, DDS, MS

Periodontist

Dr. Steven C. Maller, DDS, MS, is a distinguished periodontist with an impressive career spanning over two decades. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1992 and was immediately commissioned as a captain in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps. Dr. Maller began his career as a comprehensive dentist, serving at various Royal Air Force bases in the United Kingdom for four years before entering the USAF Periodontics Residency program at Wilford Hall Medical Center. He graduated in 2000 with a Specialty Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science degree in Periodontics from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. 

During his tenure in the Air Force, Dr. Maller held prominent roles, including Director of Clinical Periodontics and Director of Resident Education and Training. Following his residency, he joined the faculty of the USAF Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Residency Program at Lackland Air Force Base. In 2000, he earned Diplomate status with the American Board of Periodontology. 

Dr. Maller’s career included a second tour in the United Kingdom as a periodontist in 2002 and a return to the USAF Periodontics Residency Program faculty in 2005, where he again served as Director of Clinical Periodontics and Director of Resident Education and Training. Promoted to full colonel in 2010, he rejoined the AEGD Program as Chief of Periodontics. During this time, he also served as an Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Periodontics Department at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and as an Associate Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) Air Force Postgraduate Dental School. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Maller has made significant contributions to the field of periodontics, publishing articles in professional journals, mentoring resident thesis projects, and lecturing both nationally and internationally on a wide array of periodontal topics. He retired from active duty in October 2013 after more than 21 years of service and joined Dr. William Stalker’s practice to continue providing exceptional periodontal care. 

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Dr. Maller has been happily married since 1992 and is a proud father to two sons, Sam and Ethan. In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar, spending time with family, and volunteering at Concordia Lutheran Church.

Periodontist

Dr. Steven C. Maller brings an extensive background in periodontics and dental education to the practice. A retired full colonel from the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Maller has served as a faculty member at the USAF Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Residency Program and as Director of Clinical Periodontics at the USAF Periodontics Residency Program.

Dr. Maller earned Diplomate status from the American Board of Periodontology in 2000 and has published articles in professional journals, mentored numerous thesis projects, and lectured internationally on periodontal topics. After more than 21 years of distinguished military service, Dr. Maller retired in 2013 and joined Dr. William Stalker’s practice.
